Dec. 12, 2012 - Penn Fusion staff, players, and families congratulate our very own SHAWN FERRIS on his selection as 2012 Girls Travel Coach of the Year by Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. This award comes as no surprise to those of us at Penn Fusion who work with Shawn to provide an elite soccer opportunity for area youth. Shawn has coached at the youth level for over 20 years. His 10 plus years of college coaching experience includes the start up of men’s and women’s NCAA programs which quickly advanced to the NCAA playoffs. Shawn holds both a Director of Coaching Certificate and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
Shawn joined Penn Fusion Soccer Academy in its inaugural season as part of the joint venture with Spirit United, the club where Shawn began both his playing and coaching careers. In 2012, Shawn coached the Penn Fusion ’92 Gaels to their sixth consecutive EPYSA State Cup title and to the semifinals of the Region 1 Championships. Under Ferris’ tutelage, the Penn Fusion ’92 Gaels also accomplished the following distinctions: 2010 and 2008 US Youth Soccer Regional Finalists; 2009 Region 1 Premier League Champions; and numerous premier tournament titles. Equally important to the future of his players, Coach Ferris works tirelessly to provide each player with the opportunity to continue her soccer career at the collegiate level. His counseling, networking, and total involvement in the college recruitment process enable his players to be successful beyond the youth soccer field. Shawn currently coaches the Penn Fusion ’95 Girls and is the assistant coach for the Penn Fusion ’94 Girls.
